If you have been watching real estate prices you are aware that housing and property prices are increasing at record rates in the Southwest. Many areas have lower housing costs, but few have the livability that’s available in Prescott area. Nearly all the national retailers have a presence in the area so shopping is not a problem. Being at higher elevation it does not share the extreme summer heat of the Phoenix and Tucson areas. Yes, it can snow during the winter, but normally not very often. Some years there are two green seasons with the winter rains and the summer monsoon season. 38% of the population in the Prescott area is retired, many have sold their homes in high cost housing areas and downsized. Others have capitalized by selling their out of state homes, using their equity to get rid themselves of mortgage payments.
